SkyWave and LavaNet partner to bring "broadband to go" to DSL customers

Honolulu, Hawaii - December 20, 2005. SkyWave, one of the state's fastest growing Wireless Broadband Providers, and LavaNet, Hawaii's largest locally owned Internet service provider, have partnered to offer LavaNet customers "Broadband to Go", a roaming WiFi service good at over thirty locations on Oahu including Waikiki, Downtown, Hawaii Kai, Kailua, Manoa, Ward Center & Warehouse, Aiea, and Kapolei.

LavaNet is offering a new, free, 6-week trial to SkyWave's WiFi service to all its customers. Simply, existing LavaNet email accounts will be valid at all SkyWave hotspots. "In many ways, what cellular phones did to land-lines, WiFi is doing to Internet service," said Yuka Nagashima, President of LavaNet. "A growing number of our customers want to take their broadband outside of the home or office. Our partnership with SkyWave gives them a way to do this, and at a preferred rate for being an existing LavaNet customer."

Additionally, qualified LavaNet business customers can securely leverage their DSL connection and become a SkyWave hotspot location at no cost. To qualify, a LavaNet business customer needs to meet SkyWave's criteria for a hotspot, which can include having a waiting room, lobby, or conference area that would attract WiFi users if a signal was available.

"SkyWave will provide these LavaNet customers with the WiFi equipment, installation, our management software and splash-page branding, marketing materials, and promotional passes," said Joshua Beil, President of SkyWave. "We are quite excited about the opportunity to provide all LavaNet customers with a free trial to our roaming WiFi service and to add select LavaNet customers to our rapidly growing number of partner locations."

At the conclusion of the free trial, LavaNet customers will be able to keep their Skywave account active by signing up for the monthly recurring service. LavaNet customers will get a significant discount off of Skywave's retail price, and the service will simply be added to the customer's monthly bill from LavaNet.
