Ken Sandefur Telecommunications
Ken Sandefur is the former President of AT&T Hawaii. He brings over 35 years of business experience on the mainland U.S. and Hawaii. Sandefur contributes knowledge and expertise from his experience in retailing, government relations, business acquisitions, human resources, labor relations, business and consumer marketing and sales, advertising, public relations and managing all aspects of a telecommunications operation.
Drake Beil EdD, CMC, Strategic Planning
Drake has a doctorate in education, specializing in learning theory. He has run a Hawai'i-based consulting practice for clients in business, education, government, non-profits, and the military since 1981 and earned a CMC designation as a certified management consultant in 1989. He specializes in strategic planning and organizational development, and loves performance improvement and yield management projects. Drake is an active writer and has a weekly business column in the Pacific Business News titled "Working Solutions." His last book was Business Solutions for the 21st Century (Pfeiffer, 1994) and he co-authored "Fundamentals of Quality" with Dr. Mark Kimmel for the American Society of Training and Development in 1991. He is a frequent business commentator on television and radio, and also hosts UH This Week, a TV interview series profiling the University of Hawai'i's interesting developments on Saturdays at 5pm on KHNL News 8. He often speaks professionally and keynotes conferences for corporate clients like ADT, American Steel Distributors, Canadian Masonry Association, Fancy Publications, GE Medical Systems, Liberty Life, Metromedia Restaurant Group, Trial Lawyers Association and the World Futures Society.
Len Ganote Property Management & Electrical Engineering
Len founded Hawaiian Pacific Elevator (HPE) in 1967, a Hawaii corporation specializing in installing and maintaining elevators in Hawaii's high-rise buildings. In 1981, HPE was
honored by INC Magazine as Hawaii's fastest growing company and was #150 of the nation's 500 fastest growing companies. Len sold HPE in 1986 to Dover Elevator, the nation's leading elevator manufacturing company, and he continued to manage the company until his retirement in 1990.
Linda Gee Real Estate and Property Management
Linda is Vice President of Investment Sales and Leasing in Hawaii for PM Realty Group. She coordinates the provision of a full range of brokerage services, including landlord, tenant and investor representation. She has been a professional in the Hawaii real estate
industry for 30 years with extensive experience in commercial property investment sales
and acquisitions, consulting, leasing, and property management. Ms. Gee has brokered investment sales of commercial properties including the Manoa Marketplace, Azeka Place Shopping Center, Kihei Professional Plaza, and 677 Ala Moana Building in Hawaii. Ms. Gee has been designated a Certified Property Manager (CPM?) by the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), is a candidate for the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM?) designation, and is a licensed Hawaii real estate broker. She is the immediate past-president of the Institute of Real Estate Management - Hawaii Chapter.
Bob Nakata Wireless Engineering and Business Development
Bob has over 22 years of experience developing wireless systems for the US Government
and the commercial industry. Upon graduating from MIT, where he was the recipient of
an Air Force ROTC scholarship and graduate fellowship, he served 6 years in the US Air
Force as a Contract Office Technical Representative assigned to the Secretary of the
Air Force, Special Projects. Mr. Nakata is currently the President of B3 Advanced
Communication Systems, a startup that is developing the next generation of wireless
communications for the US government. Most recently, he was the Vice President of
Worldwide Engineering at interWAVE Communications, a manufacturer of cellular and
broadband wireless infrastructure equipment. Mr. Nakata holds a bachelors and masters in electrical engineering from MIT, and an executive MBA from Wharton Business School.
